A History of the Best Picture Oscar Part V

Million Dollar Baby – 2005

Clint Eastwood stars, co-produces and directs this moving story of an aging, cantankerous boxing trainer who takes an underdog amateur boxer under his wing to help her achieve her dream of becoming a professional.

At age seventy-four, Clint Eastwood became the oldest Best Director Oscar winner for this movie that became only one of two boxing movies that have ever won Best Picture. The other being Rocky.

It would also be the second time Eastwood would win the Best Director and Best Picture Oscar as Actor, Producer, and Director, with Morgan Freeman co-starring. The first being Unforgiven.
