The curled fingers – part of a 40 feet tall statue that may have existed at the Temple of Hercules, in Amman, Jordan, around A.D. 160.
This is just magnificent! This part of a statue was discovered at the Temple of Hercules in Amman, Jordan, and dates back to around 160 AD. It is called the Hand of Hercules and archaeologists believe this fragment along with an elbow is part of a giant marble statue, around forty feet tall. You can tell it was huge just by looking at the size of the fingers.
During the first century BC, Jordan was part of the Roman rule and Amman, one of the Ten Cities of Decapolis, was packed with all sorts of beautiful statues and monuments.
