Library in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.
Did you know that Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, is home to Latin America’s largest library, the National Library of Brazil? As it can be seen in the picture, it is a colossal and astonishing building, the 7th largest library in the world, in fact, and an important factor in promoting and improving the library system in this South American nation.
As a matter of fact, the National Library of Brazil provided the first library science classes in Latin America and the personnel had a key role in developing several modern library services such as the online databases. One of the most important artifacts is a 19th-century collection of more than 20,000 photographs by Teresa Cristina Maria.
