At 4:14 p.m., the National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for three counties, which included the city of Omaha. At 4:29 p.m., following a 911 call of a confirmed touchdown, Omaha sounded its emergency sirens. Damage reports began to flood in as the tornado moved north and northeast through the city, at one point striking a hospital and causing officials to shut down Interstate 80 due to injuries sustained by motorists. By 4:58 p.m., the tornado had lifted and broken apart over the city’s Benson Park.
